The Nokia N810 internet tablet was released in the UK in December of 2007. It is the successor to the N800. The new model features a full QWERTY keyboard which slides down from behind the screen, but still manages to smaller than the N800.

As an internet tablet it's primary function is for accessing the internet and internet technologies. With it's Wifi connectivity (IEEE 802.11b/g) you can access your own wireless network to get online or find one of the UK's many WiFi Hotspots, alternatively you can use bluetooth technology to connect to your mobile phone and connect to the internet that way. Machine uses include: web browsing, email, instant messaging, internet telephone calls, navigational aid, video chat and a multi-media player. Everything you need to surf, work and entertain while you're on the go.

Nokia N810 Internet Tablet Details

The operating system behind the device is Linux based OS2008 and it comes with many pre-installed utilities with a highly customisable user-interface. A Mozilla engineered web browser is one and with an Adobe® Flash® 9 plugin it allows you to access all the on-line content you're likely to need including youtube, iGoogle and Google documents. Buttons and stylus movements allow you to navigate and zoom in and out on web pages.

The email application supplied with the Nokia N810 has support for POP3, SMTP and IMAP which will allow you to access and work with your existing email accounts.

In-built GPS and pre-loaded maps allows the Nokia machine to perform as a Navigational tool, showing you exactly where you are on a map. For an additional charge you can purchase the Wayfinder software to provide a fully-functioning navigation system which gives you vocal directions to get to your destination either on foot or by vehicle. The package comes with a car holder should you wish to use the device as a navigational aid while driving.

It is worth noting that the device is not a mobile phone, but by using Skype software you can place calls over the internet and the package comes with a headset which includes headphones and a microphone. An intgrated VGA camera also allows for the use of video chat. The device features a 4.1 inch touch screen with a 800 x 480 resolution capable of displaying up to 65000 colours. You have a choice of using the slide-down keyboard or alternatively you can use an on-screen one. The Nokia N810 comes with 2GB of internal storage and has a mini-SD memory card slot which supports cards of up to 8GB. You can also use micro SD cards by using a converter to fit it into the mini-SD card slot.

Other software present is a media player, RSS reader, file manager, a PDF reader, a backup and restore utility and some games including chess, blocks, marbles and mahjong. The battery allows for up to 10 hours of music playback.
