Our Editorial Standards
Curated by the Grab A Deal team · Last updated: 24 July 2026
This page is our editorial policy in full — how we decide what counts as a genuine deal, how we tier what you see, and how we stay on the right side of UK pricing law. We'd rather show you exactly how the sausage is made than ask you to take our word for it.
How we spot a genuine discount
Every few hours we pull fresh product data straight from UK retailers via Awin, an established affiliate network. For each product we compare the retailer's current price against a reference price the retailer themselves has supplied (their stated RRP, or an equivalent field depending on how that retailer sets up their feed). We never calculate or invent a “was” price ourselves — if a retailer hasn't supplied one, we simply can't show a discount for that product, full stop.
Our 20% minimum threshold
A price cut only counts as a “deal” on this site once it clears 20% off the retailer's own reference price. Below that, we still track the product quietly in the background (so we can spot a real drop later), but it never gets shown to you as a deal.
Extra scrutiny above 70% off
Very large discounts are exactly what UK regulators scrutinise most closely, since they're the easiest to fake with an inflated reference price. Anything over 70% off is automatically held back from publishing and goes through manual human review against the retailer's own live site before it's approved or rejected — it never goes live on instinct alone.
Our four-tier system
Behind the scenes, every product we track sits in one of four tiers: Featured (a trusted retailer, a moderate and genuine discount, stable for several days, in stock), Live (any other genuine 20%+ discount that's in stock), Flagged (over 70% off, pending the manual review above), or Tracked(everything else — full price or out of stock — recorded quietly, never shown). Which tier a product lands in is worked out automatically from real data, not picked by hand.
Compliance: pricing law and advertising rules
The UK's Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 gives the CMA power to fine reference-pricing violations heavily, so we treat honest “was” pricing as non-negotiable, not a nice-to-have. Every affiliate link on this site carries a clear disclosure before you ever reach it, is marked rel="sponsored nofollow", and opens in a new tab, in line with ASA guidance that affiliate/deals content must be obviously identifiable as advertising — a footer-only disclaimer isn't good enough, so ours sits at the top of every page before the first link.
